IOO (The Institute for Research on Public Expenditure) specializes in research for and into the public sector. The emphasis is on issues of efficiency, budgeting and effectiveness. IOO carries out these studies for all government policy fields, providing a significant contribution towards efficient and effective policies. IOO works together with other specialist bureaus. Its activities range from the development of performance indicators, policy evaluations, estimation and distribution models, benchmarking to setting standards of expenditures. Such research is carried out for national, provincial and local governments.
